The misanthropy of David's character is so angry and unapologetic -- more so than anything by Allen previously. It's not really a good movie, but there are definitely some great moments. It's got that coincidental obviousness of Allen's work, but that's to be expected. Knowing that the screenplay is from 30 years ago makes the romance seem a little less creepy... a little, mind you. Entertaining and interesting -- which is pretty typical for Allen's lighter works.
