The first, eponymous volume is pretty weak, and not indicative of Sim's later style.Jones, one of the Jones boyshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04149754038216055892noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8882610517765002247.post-7740513422142734632007-11-22T14:41:00.000-06:002007-11-22T14:41:00.000-06:00Scud is one book I though I´d never see again. Only thing I know is I loved it´s spin-off La Cosa Nostroid; which is also still missing its final issue. Here´s to hoping.

Also, new Andi Watson. But it sounds like it might be better to track down the previous collections. I guess I'll have to decide what to do. Thanks for the info!

By the way, by "Church and State", do you mean that part of Cerebus? I haven't read that, but I do plan/hope to someday.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13867868039166531163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8882610517765002247.post-83442155146434651012007-11-21T20:29:00.000-06:002007-11-21T20:29:00.000-06:00Hey Matt, I remember you talking about starting Ja...Hey Matt, I remember you talking about starting Jack Staff before. Personally, I think it's the bee's knees, but it really is a wait-for-the-trade series.

Not because Grist pads it out---on the contrary, lots of stuff happens in any given issue. But he's generally telling half a dozen stories and subplots at any one time. So you usually get only small pieces of any particular thread in a given issue. If you've read Church and State, Grist's pacing is sort of like the sequence of 2-/3-page bits there. Works like magic when collected, but it probably won't float your boat issue-by-issue.Jones, one of the Jones boyshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04149754038216055892noreply@blogger.com
