Really, the Evanier/Rude one is probably what I would be most interested in, but as you say, it's probably fairly easy to find. Oh well, I guess I can take a look at it if I see the collected version, but it doesn't really seem worth buying.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13867868039166531163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8882610517765002247.post-73478076789679775702007-09-17T22:28:00.000-05:002007-09-17T22:28:00.000-05:00The Tales of the New Gods book is odd to say the l...The Tales of the New Gods book is odd to say the least. I can't imagine that the Evanier/Rude Mister Miracle special is that hard to find.

The Byrne stuff is solid, fun and rather unremarkable in the end. It's probably some of the best stuff he did after abandoning Next Men. I think Byrne captures a bit of the spirit of the New Gods without ever being able to tap into Kirby's power, majesty and bombastic energy.

I'm disappointed in the Simonson issues only because they're not reprinting Simonson's whole run. Simonson knew that he wasn't Kirby so he tried something different with the characters. F'rinstance, they're not collecting issue #5 which featured a knock-down, drag out fight between Orion and Darksied with anyone and everyone watching. And they're not collecting #25, an issue that's a bit of a coda to the whole shebang but probably doesn't fit into what DC is trying to do with the New Gods right now.Scott Cederlundhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07184941142922866755noreply@blogger.com
