Where's Madman? Or: A Whedontastic week

For some reason, I thought Madman Atomic Comics #1 was coming out this week. It must be next week. That's good, it gives me time to finish reading The Atomics (except for the two issues I don't have yet). As for Whedon, well, I'm not getting Buffy, but how often does he have two comics come out the same day? Anyway, on to

New comics this week (Wednesday, 4/4/07):

Got my info from Chris Butcher again, although I also checked Midtown Comics.

AMERICAN SPLENDOR ANOTHER DAY TP (MR) 14.99

I bought the single issues of this one, but it's excellent if you like Pekar. Especially stories with art by the likes of Richard Corben, Eddie Campbell, and Gilbert Hernandez. Recommended!

CROMARTIE HIGH SCHOOL MANGA VOL 10 TP 10.95

Wow, I'm woefully behind on this series.

CROSS BRONX VOL 1 TP (MR) 14.99

This might be worth checking out. I thought about getting the issues, but didn't. I usually like Mike Oeming, but I'm not really familiar with Ivan Brandon. Does anybody know if it was any good?

DARK TOWER GUNSLINGER BORN #3 (OF 7) 3.99

I've definitely been enjoying this series, so hopefully it will continue to be good.

ELKS RUN GN 19.95

I've heard a lot of good things about this series, but I never saw it in a store. I might have to pick this up. We'll see if my store gets it.

GHOST RIDER TRAIL OF TEARS #3 (OF 6) 2.99

I'm undecided about this. I got the first two issues, but found them to be quite "meh". I guess I'll have to make a decision about it sometime.

IMMORTAL IRON FIST #4 2.99

Oh, it's good to see this show up. It's been a pretty cool series. Keep up the good work, guys!

IRON MAN HYPERVELOCITY #4 (OF 6) 2.99

And speaking of good series, this one has been awesome. I'm sure digging the Adam Warren lately.

JACK OF FABLES #9 (MR) 2.99

And this one has also been hella fun. More adventures of Jack in Vegas. Go Jack!

MAINTENANCE #3 (MR) 3.50

Ah, and it's awesome to see this series. I'll keep pimping it, trying to get other people to check it out. Come on, you gotta love the adventures of janitors who work for mad scientists!

MIDNIGHTER #6 2.99

I don't know if this is Ennis's last issue on the series, or if he's just taking a break. It's a one-off with art by Glenn Fabry. Next issue is by Brian K. Vaughan and Darick Robertson, and the next one is by Christos Gage and John Paul Leon. Maybe Ennis quit after DC cancelled The Boys. I'll have to research it and see what I can find out.

RUNAWAYS #25 2.99

Here's the possible highlight of the week; it's Whedon's first issue, and I'm quite interested to see what direction he takes the book. I think he's bringing the team back to New York; who knows what he's doing after that. Well, here's a hint.

SGT ROCK THE PROPHECY TP 17.99

Here's another one that I didn't read, but heard was good. I almost picked up the singles during a sale at the LCS, but decided against it. Maybe I'll get this.

TEZUKAS BUDDHA VOL 6 ANANDA SC 14.95

Wow, I really want to get this series. Someday.

WOLFSKIN PAINTED CVR #3 (OF 3) (MR) 3.99

This Warren Ellis barbarian series finally finishes. It's been enjoyable. Not much else to say right now.

Well, looks like that's pretty much everything, unless something else catches my eye. Sorry I disappeared over the weekend, but I have a few things I plan to talk about, so check back soon!

UPDATE: As Scott points out in the comments, Diamond's shipping list shows that Madman #1 is shipping this week, but I'd bet that they're wrong.
