This week: money exits my pockets

That is, if everything on the shipping list actually shows up. Plus, I'm going to this event, so I'm sure I'll end up buying The Three Paradoxes and The Salon. Anyway, here's the list:

New comics this week (Wednesday, 6/27/07):

ART OF BONE HC 39.95

Yeah, this looks cool, but I don't see myself dropping $40 on it.

BOYS #8 (MR) 2.99

This issue came out quick. More uncontrollable rapings, I expect. Maybe some beatings. Lots of dirty jokes. You know the drill.

COLLECTED TOUPYDOOPS TP (MR) 14.95

This has received some good buzz, but the art style and story (something about Hollywood producing comics instead of movies, and a guy in pursuit of comics-star fame) don't really interest me. Is it really worth it? I guess I could look for it at the library sometime...

CRIMINAL #7 (MR) 2.99

The last issue was really good, so I'm hoping this storyline will continue in the same manner.

DWIGHT T ALBATROSS THE GOON NOIR TP 12.95

This was a fairly enjoyable little anthology series, with people like Ryan Sook, Tony Moore, and many others filling in for Eric Powell. Not as good as the regular Goon series, but still fun. A little on the pricey side though; wasn't it a three-issue series for $2.95 each? Huh.

FOREVER NUTS THE EARLY YEARS OF MUTT & JEFF HC 24.95

I bet this is really good. I'm fascinated by early comic strips (I bought the Popeye book when it was on sale for really cheap on Amazon), and these are a prime example. Maybe I'll get it sometime.

GARTH ENNIS STREETS OF GLORY PREVIEW (MR) 1.99

A western series from Ennis via Avatar. I'm sure I'll read it, but I'll skip the preview, which I assume will just print part of the first issue. I dunno when the actual series comes out.

GIRL FROM HOPPERS LOCAS VOL 2 TP 14.95
HUMAN DIASTROPHISM PALOMAR VOL 2 TP 14.95

I've seen these on various shipping lists recently, but I've yet to see them on a shelf. But they're on my store's list this week, so I'm hoping they actually appear. I can't wait.

HELLBOY DARKNESS CALLS #3 (OF 6) 2.99

More witches, I bet.

IMMORTAL IRON FIST #6 2.99

I think this is the finale of the first storyline, with Iron Fists, Luke Cage, and Misty Knight having a huge fight with Steel Snake and the hordes of Hydra. Awesomeness will ensue. It better!

JACK OF FABLES #12 (MR) 2.99

New storyline! Not sure what's going to happen; maybe Jack and Gary on the road or something. But this week I'm also going to this event (the one on 6/27), so maybe I can ask the artists what's in store. Or at least get a few issues signed. Maybe a sketch? We'll see!

LEGION OF MONSTERS SATANA 2.99

I really don't know if I want to bother with this Marvel thing (especially with the ugly Greg Land cover), but it features content by Jonathan Hickman, creator of The Nightly News. It'll be worth a look.

MAINTENANCE VOL 1 ITS A DIRTY JOB TP (MR) 9.95

Wait a minute, haven't there only been two issues of this book? I thought my store was holding them for me. I'll have to check it out and see what's going on. Whatever the case, I recommend it; it's a fun comic about two janitors at a facility for mad science experiments. Check it out if you haven't already!

MARVEL ADVENTURES AVENGERS #14 2.99

This one features time travel, I think. Go Jeff Parker!

MIRRORMASK LTD ED 125.00

An illustrated script, which might be more enjoyable than actually watching the movie (really, it was damn tedious. Beautiful Dave McKean animation though). But slightly more expensive.

NEIL GAIMAN AND CHARLES VESS STARDUST HC (MR) 39.99

More Neil Gaiman movie stuff. I've actually never read this, which is odd. I have the paperback, but I would love to get the illustrated version, since Charles Vess' art is really pretty (and expensive too, I guess). Now I'm in the dilemma of whether I should read the book before I watch the movie, which is coming out soon. Probably not. Oh, well.

NIGHTLY NEWS #6 (OF 6) 2.99

And speaking of Jonathan Hickman, here's the finale of his wild and crazy series about a cult of killers executing members of the news media. It's been awesome, and I can't wait to see how it ends.

TEZUKAS APOLLOS SONG SC (MR) 19.95

Hey, I thought this was on last week's list. It is on my store's list this week though. I'll get it sometime...

TO TERRA VOL 3 TP 13.95

I almost picked up volume 2 of this series the other day, but I ended up getting Parasyte and King of Thorn instead. I'll get caught up eventually.

WHITE PICKET FENCES #2 (OF 3) 3.50

I thought the first issue of this was decent. I might get this one, if I feel like it.

X-MEN FIRST CLASS VOL 2 #1 2.99

And then there's this series, about which I'm still undecided. Given the large amount of $$ I'll probably be spending this week, I kind of doubt I'll get it.

So yeah, that's a lot of stuff. Actually, I don't know if it'll be too much to spend if I don't find the Love and Rockets books. But I bet I'll get those, so there goes my moolah. Anyway, I hope to have at least one review tonight, so come back (Shane)!
