Comics releases this week are dwarfed by the fact that IT'S SNOWING

That's right, it's snowing here. In April. What the fuck. Anyway, here's my thoughts on

New comics this week (Wednesday, 4/11/07):

ALL STAR SUPERMAN #7 2.99

Oh yeah, it's about time this came out. It's the Bizarro issue. Or one of them anyway.

ALL STAR SUPERMAN VOL 1 HC 19.99

And this is for those who need to get caught up on the Morrison/Quitely coolness. A tad expensive though, so you might want to wait for a softcover version.

COMPLETE UNIVERSE OF DUPUY & BERBERIAN TP 55.00

This looks pretty cool. I doubt my shop will get it, but it might be something to check out someday at the bookstore or library. $55 is pretty steep, so it'll probably be the library.

DEATH NOTE VOL 11 TP 7.99

Crap, I haven't reviewed volume 10 yet (quickly: it was awesome). I'll have to get to that soon. I'll probably wait a week or two before getting this, but I can't wait. The series is nearing its conclusion (Chris Butcher says this is the penultimate volume, but Jog insists there are 13 volumes in Japan), and I'm betting it will have a hell of a finish.

DOOMED PRESENTS ASHLEY WOOD TP (MR) 7.99

I think this is a collection of Ashley Wood's work in IDW's horror magazine. I might get it if I see it.

DRAGON HEAD VOL 6 GN (OF 10) (MR) 9.99

Another one I'm way behind on (I think I repeat this every time a new volume comes out). I really need to get caught up, but I never see any volumes on sale anywhere. Maybe I'll order them all on Amazon sometime (along with Cromartie High School and Drifting Classroom).

FELL #8 1.99

Another "about time". It's always good to get a new issue of this one; hopefully it will be coming out more regularly. Will the Nixon nun make his/her/its move in this issue? I doubt it.

FERRO CITY VOL 1 TP 15.99

This looked interesting. Is it any good? Should I get it? Somebody help me out here!

FRANK FRAZETTAS DEATH DEALER #1 (MR) 3.99

I doubt I'll get this, but it will probably be worth a flip-through.

GARAGE BAND GN 16.95

I've heard this is quite good. I doubt my shop will have it, but it will probably be worth getting from the library.

MADMAN ATOMIC COMICS #1 2.99

Okay, it's finally coming out this week! I'm excited, although reviews that I've scanned seem to indicate that it's pretty much just a recap of Madman history. Whatever; I'm sure the art will be cool, and I'm there for whatever Allred has planned.

MARVEL ILLUSTRATED JUNGLE BOOK 2.99

Apparently this is an older story that is being reprinted, and it also has previews from other upcoming Marvel literary adaptations. Might be worth a look.

NEWUNIVERSAL #5 2.99

This series is fun, and it looks like some actual conflict this issue. Will I get to play "spot the celebrity" again? We'll see!

NIGHTLY NEWS #5 (OF 6) 2.99

I love this series. Too bad it's almost over, but that means Jonathan Hickman can go on to bigger and better things.

OPTIC NERVE #11 (MR) 3.95

I think I have #10, but it's been sitting in my "to read" pile for months. I should really get to it so I can read this one.

SHOJO BEAT MAY 07 VOL 3 #5 5.99

Yeah, I already got this in the mail, and I just finished reading it today. Expect a review/summary soon.

SPIDER-MAN FANTASTIC FOUR #1 (OF 4) 2.99

All right, Jeff Parker doing a fun-filled Spidey/FF adventure! Should be swell!

SPIDER-MAN LOVES MARY JANE #17 2.99

More high school romance. That Peter's a lucky punk.

WASTELAND #8 (MR) (NOTE PRICE) 3.50
WASTELAND BOOK 1 CITIES IN DUST TP (MR) 11.95

I dropped this book after two issues; it just wasn't doing anything for me. Should I pick up the TPB and get back on board? I've read good reviews, but nothing that makes me want to rush out and get this. Somebody convince me!

Looks like that's everything. Reviews tonight, maybe?

  1. For Depuy and Berberian, try to check out Get a Life and Maybe Later. Both are two of my favorite books from last year.

For Optic Nerve, also get #9, the first part of the story that concludes in #11.

  2. Thanks for the recs about the Frenchies.

I do have Optic Nerve #9, so I'm at least familiar with the story, although I should probably read it too so I can do the whole thing in one go.
